Freshwater pearl grading system
As with most quality gems,
freshwater pearls have a grading system. Here's some information you might be
interested in when buying your baby's first pearls or any freshwater pearl baby
bracelet or necklace.
Grade A Pearls
Freshwater pearls in this category
can have irregular shapes, some markings or small imperfections. However, these
imperfections are rarely seen by the naked eye. The luster of the A pearl can
be very good. In fact, people who love the earthy, natural look may prefer these
pearls. They look great when the pearls are being worn and it's nice to have genuine
freshwater pearls instead of plastics or imitations, when you can.
Grade AA Pearls
Freshwater pearls in this category
have high lustrous pearls with round shapes. The surface of the pearl is clean
without any significant imperfection. Pearls in this category represent very
good value since their costs are lower, and again, the look is similar to the
higher grades.
Grade AAA Pearls
Freshwater pearls in this category
have EXCELLENT, blusterous pearls with very round shape. The surface of the
pearl is very clean with hardly any visible markings or imperfections. The
luster of pearl is very high and they are the highest quality of pearls that
you can buy for pearls on loose strands.
Grade AAAA Pearls
Be aware if you're looking for Grade
AAAA. They are very rare. The major difference between Grade AAA and Grade AAAA,
is the roundness. Grade AAAA freshwater pearls are the highest grade for freshwater
pearls. Therefore, they are usually only used for pendants or rings when they
are just a single piece for focus.
The pearls at this grade have not
only very high luster and sparkle but also excellent roundness shape. The
surface of the pearl is extremely clean without any spots, surface markings or
imperfections.
Whatever grade your freshwater pearls baby jewlery is it's important that you provide proper care. And, it's important that your baby or little girl wear her freshwater pearl bracelet or necklace regularly. The oils from her skin will help the freshwater pearls from drying.
